Update as of June 6, 2022
The Matching Grant Deadline has been extended to June 30th!
HORSE LOVERS, FRIENDS OF JAN, FRIENDS of NANCY, & PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN GOODNESS:
This matching grant has been extended through June! While Mental Health has no end-date… this match does. We’re only 33% funded and would LOVE to see the entire grant matched!
Your generosity will be matched 1:1 up to $5000! Through June 30th.
Jan Streiff was a long-time horse enthusiast whose estate gift will benefit HOPE Ranch Foundation. We have been offered a $5000 challenge grant that we need your help to meet.
This money will save many people as HOPE Ranch continues to lead the way through Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy to combat mental health challenges magnified by COVID-19.

Suicide rates in Minnesota and across the country have risen over the past 1 1/2 years. Currently, Kit alone has 5 suicidal adults on her caseload. She and her staff are under tremendous pressure to take care of their clients who are under extreme duress due to COVID-19 ongoing challenges. Kit is doing 9 hours of therapy daily because of the high demand. She cannot refer people as other providers are booked out 4-6 months and clients cannot get in anywhere. Our overall goal at H.O.P.E. Ranch is to utilize Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy to help as many people as possible reach and maintain optimal good mental health.
We invite you to give generously during the month of May to match The Jan Streiff Legacy $5000 Challenge Grant for the HOPE Ranch “Happy Hooves Fund”.
Your financial donation will be used to help provide foot care and overall health care for our horses. The hoof is the literal foundation that all horses stand on, so a healthy hoof is imperative to provide strong support. Taking care of the hooves is taking care of the entirety of the horse.
Please consider using one of these 3 easy ways to donate today:
1. Donate online
2. Call the Foundation office at 507-281-3033 to donate by phone
3. Mail a check made out to:
HOPE Ranch Foundation, 9145 80th Ave SE, Suite B, Chatfield, MN 55923
Thank you for supporting the HOPE Ranch Foundation and the people we serve.
Legacy donor, Jan Streiff, died in June of 2021. She was a dear friend of HOPE Ranch supporter, Nancy Bateman. Though Jan had owned horses during her childhood in Rochester, her career in Field Archeology for the State of Minnesota kept her too busy to have horses as an adult. When Jan developed MS in 2000, everything changed. Though she continued to live off the grid in her cabin in the MN north woods, she struggled with mobility limitations and neuropathy. In 2015, Jan started taking riding lessons and was delighted at the improvement in her leg strength and mobility. She also discovered what many of our clients learn: working with a horse is a transforming relationship and being around horses is good therapy for the head and heart.
This Matching Gift Challenge is part of Jan’s legacy.
